Oilseed Rape Field
Rolling fields of yellow Oilseed flowers on the road to Petersfield.
Interesting facts: these fields are commonly called Oilseed Rape, from the Latin word rapum which means ‘turnip’. Hard to believe that these yellow fields are the flowers of the turnip and swede family! The seeds from the flowers are used to produce cooking oil (often labeled ‘vegetable oil’ in the shops), and increasingly in the production of biofuels such as biodiesel. And they look pretty too.
